Call for projects 2024 

Alliance Française Bangkok is launching a new artistic residency programme. This first call, launched with the support of TV5MONDE, aims at supporting the creation of an audio-visual performance for young audiences. 

The programme offers a working space and a grant of a maximum amount of 80,000 THB to cover production costs only for an artistic project 

Main criterias:

  • The submitted project must include visual arts (animation, graphic design, photography, drawings, paintings, mapping etc) and must result in the production of a live performance or an artistic installation accessible for young audiences from the age of 8 years old.
  • The project must be a new creation and should not use previous works already performed or broadcasted. 
  • The artist(s) must be available to work on the project from July to October. The artists will have access to a studio / work space during 12 weeks in Alliance Française Bangkok, it is however not required from the artists to come daily or to be based full-time in Bangkok.
  • In case of narration or use of language, the content should be accessible in French, Thai and English (voice over, subtitles, narration).

Example of projects: 

  • An audiovisual performance (animation + music) performed on stage at the auditorium of Alliance Française (220 seats)
  • An artistic installation in the mail hall of AF including giant collage, video and music
  • Any other original project or art form can be proposed and will be studied by the jury

The artists whose project is selected will: 

  • have access to a working space / studio for a maximum of 12 weeks at Alliance Française Bangkok
  • have access to the technical equipment of Alliance Française Bangkok
  • will premiere the performance at Alliance Française Bangkok in October 2024
  • will receive the support of Alliance Française Bangkok to create communication materials and to promote the performance among its network in Thailand and abroad. 

Schedule:

  • Deadline: Application can be submitted until 20th June 2024 by email to culture@afthailande.
  • Interviews with preselected artists: from 24 June to 10 July
  • Announcement of the selected project  12 July
  • Residency programme at Alliance: a maximum of 12 weeks from 22 July to 13 October 2024
  • Premiere at Alliance in October 2024 (to be confirmed)

How to submit the project: 

Send by email before June 20, 2024 at culture@afthailande.org

  • a detailed description of the project of at least two pages
  • sketch or visual of the project if applicable
  • a biography, resume and portfolio of artists involved in the project
  • a provisional budget explaining how the grand will be used. The grant can only be used for production costs, excluding travel expenses, personal expenses, food etc.
